A 52 Week Autobiography Through Music – Week 43 – Soundtrack of the Late Nineties

Considering all the time in my life that I spent searching out and listening to new music I see this period of the mid to late nineties as the beginning of a decade plus of relative ambivalence with regard to new music. This is why when I think about this period I remember listening over and over to just a handful of records and artists and not being interested so much in hearing anything new or unknown… Jeff Buckley and the Dave Matthews Band are the two artists of the rock genre that stand out in my memory of this period and as I sat and listened to these records and others from these two artists it was easy to understand why I could justify this behavior. Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk and Before these Crowded Streets are both fantastic albums. Go Listen to them!
